The Durin's Folk Chronicles

Our website is usually referred to in game as "The Chronicles" of Durin's Folk and it is the primary source of information about events, since things in game are preliminary and will most likely be told in depth at the said event.

All forum conduct both IC and OOC fall within the set rules of conduct listed hereunder and in The Way of Durin to which all forum users must comply to.

Durin's Folk forums are at their best when participants treat their fellow posters with respect and courtesy. Therefore, we ask that you conduct yourself in a civilized manner when participating in these forums.

The guidelines and rules listed below explain some of what behavior is expected of you and what behavior you can expect from other community members.

Note that the following guidelines are not exhaustive, and may not address all manner of offensive behavior. As such, the forum moderators shall have full discretion to address any behavior that they feel is inappropriate.

Using these forums is not to be considered a right but rather a benifit of being part of Durin's Folk, and as such the moderators of Durin's Folk forums reserves the right to suspend your access to these forums at any time for reasons that include, but are not necessarily limited to, your failure to abide by these guidelines.

Examples of these guidelines*

* Goodbye and farewell.
We appreciate that players have made meaningful personal connections while playing Lotro and we also appreciate that sometimes it’s time to say goodbye and move along to something else. We feel that heartfelt goodbyes are best done in private with personal messages to those who you will miss and who will miss you, not as missives to everyone who happens to read your post. Posts of that nature typically do not end well and as a result we will close or remove goodbye/farewell threads.

* Inactivity.
The DF chronicles (forums) are aimed at providing a valuable service to players of our kinship, and as such are meant to be used by active players of our kinship. Kinship officers may remove forum access to inactive players at their discretion, if it is deemed necessary to promote the overall goals of our kinship (see Ways of Durin - our community guidelines). (One example would be if a player is no longer playing a member of our kinship and using their shivtr account to violate the Way of Durin.)

* Inappropriate content.
You may not use, distribute, or spotlight, or post links to sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially, nationally, ethnically offensive content or language, or other content deemed inappropriate at the discretion of the Durin's Folk Officers. Such posts will be removed from the DF forums immediately and can result in a account removal / kinship ban. You may also not form or participate in groups whose ideology promotes intolerance directed at others based on their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, lifestyle, ethnicity, etc. The posting of any comment or material that promote or exhibit intolerance are also prohibited. This is considered a very serious offence and may result in the immediate and permanent loss of your DF forum account and membership.

* “Self Defense” posts.
Please do not respond to attempts to provoke, troll or bait you. Posts you feel violate the forum guidelines or Way of Durin should be reported to an officer without delay. Responding in kind usually results in both parties having actions taken against their accounts.

* Harassing, Insulting and Abusive posts.
We do not tolerate any comments that are abusive or insulting, involve name calling, or attempt to disparage, harass, defraud, threaten or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players, Kinships, Fansites, groups, Turbine developers, Turbine community team, or any Turbine/WB employees, or other companies. Doing so is considered a serious offense and will not be tolerated.
